Brilliant restoration of my 65 year old 8mm film. Very professional outfit. Prompt response to all email correspondence. Highly recommend.

Appalling company! I seriously regret ever sending these jokers our family heirlooms. I cannot understand where the 5 star reviews come from - must be friends. To begin with - customer service. NON EXISTENT!!!. It should have been a red flag for me from the beginning. I tried calling to discuss our needs but nobody ever answers the phone. It's an extremely expensive company but they promise the best. 6 - 8 weeks they said. They acknowledged receiving my films on the 16th of January. It's possible to track the progress of your films through their system. end of March and the films had not moved anywhere. I tried calling again and again to see what had happened to our precious films. No one picks up. I tried emailing asking the whereabouts of our films - nobody replied. I came to the conclusion that I was just never going to see our films again. I was heartbroken. Our mother had just died which prompted us to get our memories with her digitized and now they were gone. I left a post on the Alive Studios Facebook page warning others not to send their films to these scammers. A couple of weeks after that, I got an email telling my job would be completed by the 30th of April. I finally got the films. What a massive disappointment. The quality is APPALLING!. They promise you the "BEST" but you get the worst. I could have done a better job shining a torch through the film onto the kitchen wall and filming it with my phone. Taking what they gave me and spending 5 minutes with Power Director and I can massively improve the quality but I didn't spend £1265.64 in order to get something I would have to try and rescue in post processing, I expected results that can't be improved upon. Sometimes in life you deal with bad companies. This is one of them in every possible way. Steer clear and get your precious memories digitised somewhere else. I can't believe there's a company out there who can't do a better job than this for a fraction of the price or who has worse customer service. In response to your reply. As to the extensive communication and "we clearly communicated the extended lead time" - this just an outright lie. "We are more than willing to explore options to meet your expectations". No you're not. You be offered a £20 gift voucher I can give to a friend. That's very generous of you. I wouldn't give that to my worst enemy. That compensation is an example of how little thought goes into their customer service. I understand you're trying to mitigate against my description of your appalling service by trying to pretend your a reasonable company willing to take steps to rectify poor service and work but readers - don't be fooled, it's utter deceit.

We wanted to get our wedding Super8 cinefilm from 1980 cleaned up and transferred to 4K,including the sound. Alive Studios is local to us so we thought we would entrust the task of restoring our treasured memories to them. All done and now back with us after just three weeks - very good turnaround. Absolutely delighted with the results - and the whole family love it - even my mother-in-law who saw it at the weekend ha ha. Thoroughly recommend

Great service, they talked me through everything I needed to consider and answered all my questions prior to me placing an initial order, delivering the films and obtaining a quote. I was kept updated the whole time and the order was processed with surprising haste. The service is well worth waiting for as the results are amazing, truly professional. I have been able to view 65 year old cine film for the first time in 30 years, bringing back so many memories.

I work in the film business so I selected the firm to digitise my personal family films very carefully. Alive have a detailed website which emphasised to me that they understood how precious and important their customer films are. I liked that they couriered the films there and back. I spoke to the technician who was very knowledgeable, (and believe me I would know). I liked that they understand their end user and they offer the basic version (which is what most people want and will eventually watch) but also the pro version which has everything you would need to re-edit, re-crop and re- colour correct. I liked the 4k option as well as HD, and I was particularly interested to speak to the technician about the 'real world' benefits of 4k. Now I would have gone for the whole hog but I was actually spending my other family members money so in the end I went for the basic HD version (and saved me a load of time on a process that I probably would never have got round to and Alive studios had done anyway). The images are great, just as I remember them. That sort of goes without saying as I gave the review 5 stars. What has impressed me most though has been the communication. Every stage of the process has been reported via email, whether that is receipt of the films to starting the scan and every other stage of production. I felt reassured throughout. I received the films back today with a box of Devon fudge included. This was a process dealt with entirely online but felt anything but. It was refreshingly personal and I recommend Alive Studios wholeheartedly.

Delighted with the excellent quality and service. Transformed three 8mm home movie reels that were nearly 50 years old. Sympathetic editing managed to produce rich colours and greatly clean up the frames, while still retaining a couple of artefacts here and there for that "home movie projector" feel.

Absolutely thrilled with the fabulous job that you have done with the transfer of our videos to a digital format. The joy it has brought to us all at this challenging time to be able to see each other, albeit in the past, but together sharing happy times simply can't be beaten. I could not be happier with the service I have received from Alive Studios. My super 8 films were over 55 years old and had some damage but the quality of restoration is incredible. Every contact was pleasant and handled with professionalism. I had a 3 month wait but I was reassured at every step and felt the care and attention I received was exceptional. I have been so impressed with the service I received from Alive Studios. We had an urgent requirement to get cine films converted to a digital format (surprise xmas gift) and I wasn't sure if there was enough time, or if the finished product would be watchable. I needn't have worried, from my first phone call I realised I would be dealing with real, live people who understood my requirements. So much nice than interacting with an algorithm. Needless to say the films were received well before xmas and the quality of them was stunning (nice fudge too!)

Recently had all my family cinefilms transferred by Alive studios. Takes a while but the results were definitely worth the wait. All 21 films were collected and returned exactly when they said they would and communication was impeccable all the way about what stage my films were at. And having them online is just brilliant so that I can share them with family and friends who haven't seen them in ages. So if you are deliberating about the cost just go for it as you only get them transferred once and they have to be done right. After all this time the 1960s films colour were still incredible. Thanks.
